Here is how our calibration procedure takes place

I) The first step is that of equipment setup

1) First of all, we set the desired balance, and then we let the balance measurement equilibrate for two hours.
2) The second step is of checking the calibration of the balance.
3) The third stage is where we set instruments such as the barometer, the humidity meter and the thermometer for the duration of 2 hours. For the duration of this period, we record the requisite environmental data.
4) In the final stage, we balance the measurement and compute through the RS232 interface on the computer.

II) The second step is that of performance verification

1) On the computer, we enter the Zero Sigma tracking number and the pipette information
2) Enter any data regarding deviation in the pipette’s physical appearance
3) We measure the weight of the volume at 10%, 50% and 100% of the pipette’s nominal volume. While doing so, we calculate any imprecision and inaccuracy of the instrument. If the instrument fails in this step, we note what the cause of the problem was. We take corrective action. If it still fails, we proceed to: disassembling the instrument, cleaning the instrument with an ethanol solution, polish the pipette’s shaft to reduce friction, replace essential parts, replace the Teflon Seal if needed, reassemble the parts, and then check if the instrument is working well, and adjust the dispensed volume if needed.

III) Now comes the final step, that of pipette calibration

1) We measure the weights of 10 replicate volumes, calculate the mean, the standard deviation, the precision and the accuracy at that specific volume, after having the readings corrected for air and water density.
2) Repeat step 5.
3) We tax the instrument with the help of a small sticker that has information such as date of calibration, date of next calibration, and lastly the Zero Sigma tracking number.
4) If the pipette proves to be unrepairable and fails the performance criteria, it is labeled as not calibrated and it is discarded or taken off circulation.
5) The Pipette repair and Calibration certificate are printed.
6) The Pipette Calibration and Validation certificate will be delivered in formats like PDF, CD, hard copy and support for LIMS integration.
